This is a dead issue and just another waste of time for the average tax payer in Amador County who does not have access to a broadband connection (or, for those of you who are really in the know, a Network Socket). The only way your Elected Government Representative is going to take an interest in this is if he/she is given money, lots and lots of money (Hey! Reelection Campaigns cost money – no?).
Here's the fact: The area's not being served by broadband don't have an electorate that is statistically beneficial to whomever is running for public office. It's just like when District Nine flooded and everyone was boo-hooing Washington for not doing anything. Why should your elected Representative take the initiative when they know that it's not going to garner funds for their war chest? You don't think your elected Representative would do something just because it's right, do you?
For all of us that live in gully's with low population densities, we can expect to have broadband service at the same time that our telephone service offers caller ID. Yeah, that's right: Caller ID, Call Forwarding, Caller Anything is not offered because the cost of doing so is greater than the number of customers being serviced. That is, the rate of return is so small that it's not worth the investment. This includes broadband.
People, people, people: When are you going to learn? It's not about right or wrong, good or bad; it's about the MONEY!
Unless your elected Representative get's money, and lots of it, it's not going to happen.
