Have you heard on your radio that the gas companies are making record profits, yet we still give them corporate welfare. General Mills is lookin’ pretty good too. Their stockholders aren’t exactly crying in their cheerios. I do have some sympathy for the dairy farmers who are …..but wait, don’t they get subsides too? I do think it’s kind of confusing that the same banks that wrote the ridiculous loans on the overpriced homes, were betting against their own customers…got bailouts from those customers taxes, and now are being forced to pay some folks for the bad business practices they participated in.
And wasn’t it deregulation that allowed the banks to make loans to people who had absolutely no business buying a home, much less a ludicrously over priced one? Someone had to approve the loan and check out the borrower. I
Maybe the roar you are hearing is from the earthquakes the fracking is causing in Ohio.
Mr. Watson observation on the economy would be funny,if it weren’t true, but I think his blame-thrower might be a little off target. The gas prices in this country are controled by 2 main things, the big oil companies(don’t they support the Republican party),and what ever happens to be going on in the Middle East at the time(this time it’s Iran and nukes). If you want to know why you don’t hear the big “roar”,it’s not happening in California, because we have become a welfare state, overtaking New York state for the honor of having more people who are able and capable of working, not working per-capita.I feel the problem in Amador county is that the jobs that are available are not living wage jobs, and a large percentage of “unemployable” people.I have a great idea, let’s stop paying people unemployment for 2+ years, and let’s re-reform welfare so people don’t get it forever, and let’s not give SSI disability to everyone with a hangnail. I’ve been working and contributing to the system for over 32 years, and if I didn’t have to contribute so much in taxes to pay for all these “BUMS” who never put in,but still get to take out,I would have more money to spend to help the economy “roar back”.This is not a Democrat,or a Republican problem. This is a American, and morals problem.Wake up!
The roar you hear is the quite laughable excuse for news media we have in this country. Havent you heard?
Unemployment is steadily dropping…………………………………
Jobless claims are down…………………………………….
GM is showing record profits thanks to the “carefully thought out” bailout implemented by the Obama administration ……………………………
The public’s fears of continued economic drop have vanished……………….
Obama is showing proven leadership in the war on terror…………………
OH YAH!……… And the best is….
Rick Santorum hates women………….
Mitt Romney is unable to connect with the common man……….
Rick Perry is racist…………
This election year is going to be the absolute best test of what type of a nation we are. If we have swayed from the fact that only a couple states are true nanny states (California, New York…. obviously) to a nanny nation then I fear for not only America but for the fate of mankind.
Unless you have worn earplugs and blinders for the last 3 years 24/7/365 it is beyond clear that we have not only not “pulled the car out of the ditch” but we have hit the gas pedal and are currently in mid air off of the cliff………
At this economical point….. does it really even matter who wins in November?
Just try to keep in mind who it was that ran us off the road, Voiceless. The unemployment rate and jobless claims number, as well as GM profits are a matter of public record, not conjecture. We have Obama and will have him again because the R’s don’t have a viable other option. We all wish they did, because the debates are coming, and it’s hard to have a battle of wits with an unarmed man. The swing voting morons who elected Bush not once but twice have surely learned their lesson. Too bad all the rest of us had to suffer as well.
I guess I should watch FOX news more often, and maybe you should try to be real! This is not a Democrat or a Republican problem now,it is OUR problem now, time to tighten our belts. If you do not realize why we owe the Chinese so much money, you must have worn blinders and earplugs for the past 10 years. Our goverment can no longer support everyone who does not “put in” to our society. We all need to “put in”to keep this ride going, but at this point in time too much is going out.I was born and raised a Catholic, and in recent polls(not on FOX) 76% of all Catholics believe in birth control,so yes Rick is an idiot, and Mitt flip-flops more then a raibow on the deck of my boat, and in case you did not notice,Rick is gone.I,myself like Ron Paul, but I have been told by many Republicans, that he is unelectable, too radical, shrink down the size of our fat goverment, eliminate social programs, that are killing our country. One more thing,we all didn’t get to see what would have happened to our country,if the auto bail-out didn’t happen, and I would rather give all that money to car companies under our scrutiny, then all the money we give out monthly to social programs, like welfare, where they spend the money anyway they want to.Maybe you can tell me how many jobs were saved by the bail-out(many)and welfare(hello, none)
Now that you mention it, it’s hard not to like Ron Paul. I was amazed when he got up in Florida and spoke out against the stupid half century embargo on Cuba. In FLORIDA, no less. He has real cojones, the only one who does. It’s also true that the Dems and Reps are two sides of the same coin but no Democrat would have bankrupted the country with two stupid wars and a tax break for the rich who’s taxes were already plenty low. I just don’t understand why the Reps can’t produce at least one viable candidate. I know they’re old, lacking in diversity, undereducated and shrinking fast, but surely they can do better than what they’ve come up with in the last 4 or 5 presidential elections. Also, welfare is one thing, but what I see around here is a lot of white people on disability who look fine to me. It used to be very difficult to qualify for social security disability but now……….everybody’s doing it, or so it seems. I don’t know one single soul on welfare.
Okay, I’ll admit it: I don’t vote. I’m not about to waste my time hoping that some person, of whom I know nothing, will agree with and “represent” me.
When Obama was elected I thought there would be changes – like closing down Gitmo. Well, that didn’t happen.
So, the big question is, other than sending our troops to fight and die on foreign soil, just what can our President change by him/her self? Could Ron Paul’s most radical idea be implemented without the agreement of Congress? I don’t think so. Ergo, just another pair of flapping lips. Go tea party!
Do you really think that Sarah Palin is a more viable candidate then Ron Paul? The Tea party is just as much of a fringe group as the 99%ers.I’m not going to age myself, but ever since the “summer of love”we have more and more become a selfish and self-centered country.I am a registered independent but no words were ever so true “ask not what your country can do for you,but ask what you can do for your country. My dad always said to me “you get what you give”.It is unfortunate that some people in our country feel they deserve something and put in nothing.
No, no, no! My tea party comment was made in jest. Sorry!
All I want from “my country” is to be able to purchase quality goods that bear a “Made in the USA” label.
If you want to make yourself sick, google “W Edwards Deming.” In brief, he is the “father” of quality control in Japan. He tried to educate US companies regarding his quality control principles, but was ignored.
Or this: We live in one of the most agriculturally blessed states in the country and yet, when I go shopping, I find produce that has been imported from other countries. How could that be?
We have gotten used to having fruit like grapes all year round, which means it comes from a country that is summer when it is winter here. They also grow this stuff in countries that still use DDT on crops, something outlawed here in the 70′s.Maybe that’s where the increase in Autism is from.We here in America are spoiled,we complain when gas prices rise(and blame it on the president),while over in Europe the gas is 2-3 dollars a gallon more! We all have an Ipad or Iphone, made in China,by some slave worker.Apple, the most profitable American company, has around 700,000 workers, only 40,000 in the U.S. Why,you ask are the jobs elsewhere,it’s because we have labor laws in this country,so Steve Jobs found places where he could build stuff, and make bigger profit, because he make workers have 12 hour shifts, low wages, and no safety watchdogs.Isn’t greed great!

I am all for Ron Paul………… And as soon as 83% of the country opens their eyes and realizes they are capable of thinking for themselves then someone like Ron Paul could get elected. Unfortunately for us, too many people start researching who to vote for about 5…………….seconds before entering the voting booth on election day. Why is that??? Whens the last time you saw any news station give a fair and equal amount of time to Ron Paul? Seriously, it is laughable. Hence…….. everyone either votes for Mitt Romney or Barack Obama and none of this even matters. Left and Right remains status quo and our country continues off the cliff!……Good day!
