Kelly — Benham to wed

Bonnie Kelly and David Benham have announced their wedding date for Saturday, Oct. 9 in Aptos.

A 1993 graduate of Calaveras High School, Bonnie is the daughter of Marty Hughes of Mokelumne Hill, the late Larry Kelly of Rancho Cordova and the granddaughter of Betty Reidy of Reno, Nev. She graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a bachelor of science degree in biology in 1997.

After teaching math and science at Calaveras High School, Bonnie joined the Peace Corps and served in Guana, West Africa for two years, teaching in a secondary school. She was also involved with working in remote villages teaching AIDS awareness and prevention.

He is a 1984 graduate of Canyon De Oro High School in Tucson, Ariz., and the son of Diane Anaise of Tucson, Ariz., the late Richard Benham of Richmond, Ind., and the grandson of Nellie Gray of Scottsdale, Ariz. David received his bachelor of arts degree in business at the University of Arizona, Tucson in 1989.

He served three years in Guatamala with the Peace Corps teaching small business development to natives of the rain forest. On his return to the U.S., he earned a teaching credential in history from the University of Northern Arizona, Flagstaff.

The last six years, David has been teaching math and history at Watsonville High School. Bonnie taught at the same school for a year but is now teaching math and science at the Montessori junior high in Santa Cruz.
