Bead for Life ReturnsAmador Branch of the American Association of University Women continues the popular Bead for Life jewelry sale at The Hole Affair bead shop in Jackson on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. Made by impoverished Ugandan women, these hand-rolled beads are in single and multiple strands with many color selections. Necklaces, bracelets and other items range from $5 to $30. Learn more about the women who make these beads and how Bead for Life improves their lives and communities. Holiday Knight Formal BenefitRing in the holidays at the annual Holiday Knight Formal Benefit event at the Jackson Rancheria Hotel Ballroom Saturday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. Enjoy an evening of dining, dancing and philanthropy. Motherlode Mothers of Multiples Meeting The Motherlode Mothers of Multiples will hold its bi-monthly meeting on Friday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Amador Cooperative Preschool in Jackson. Free child care will be available. The Motherlode Mothers of Multiples is a growing nonprofit network of families with, and expecting, multiple birth children in Amador County and surrounding areas. Being pregnant with, delivering, and raising multiples is a unique, special, and often challenging experience. Through MMOMs, families of twins and triplets are connected for support, information, friendship, and activities. Sierra Madre Garden ClubThe Sierra Madre Garden Club's monthly meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 1:30 p.m. at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road. Upcountry Community Council The Upcountry Community Council will again be holding its monthly meeting Thursday, Nov. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Hall on Buckhorn Ridge Road. This is a critical meeting, as this will be the last chance for Upcountry citizens to share their voice in the Upcountry input into the County General Plan regarding land use. Residents who live between Pine Grove and Kirkwood should plan on attending. Tree of LightsThis year Hospice of Amador and Calaveras will have trees in both Amador and Calaveras counties to honor loved ones. For each $10 donation, Hospice will place a light on the tree and list the name of the person to be remembered on a memorial board at the site. Tree of Lights in Calaveras County will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m. at the Calaveras Senior Center. Tree of Lights in Amador County will take place on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 5 p.m. at the Hospice Thrift Store, 10776 Argonaut Lane, Jackson. Spanish Made Simple classesSpanish Made Simple classes are open to the public and are offered through Sutter Amador Hospital. Cost is $50 per series of five classes. Materials are included. Beginner classes are Tuesdays at 4 or 5 p.m. Wednesday classes include Medical Spanish at 3:15 p.m.; high beginners at 4:30 p.m.; and Beginning Medical Spanish and Customer Service (greetings, etc.) at 5:30 p.m. Classes are held at Sutter Amador Hospital, 200 Mission Blvd., in the Mission Cafe. SIR Branch 15 Sons in Retirement Branch 15 will hold its November luncheon meeting on Thursday, Nov. 20 at Mace Meadow Conference Room in Pioneer. Social hour starts at 11 a.m.. with lunch to follow at noon. The scheduled speaker is Julie Carrington, a flight nurse and outreach coordinator. She will talk about CALSTAR's helicopter MEDI VAC services. SIR is open to any retired man who is interested in activities such as golf, fishing, tours and travel, and RVing. Reiki ClinicA free Reiki Clinic will be open to the community on Sunday, Nov. 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Refresh at Sutter Creek, 81B Hanford St. Donations will go in full to the Interfaith Food Bank in Amador County. Reiki is a healing practice that balances body and mind. Clients will remain clothed for 15 to 30 minute sessions and should wear casual clothes.
