General Trout Season is now if full swing and hitting the Middle Fork of the Cosumnes for a little fly fishing seemed to be the right thing for my first outing.

My friend Yuki has wanted to get more into fly fishing even though we’ve dabbled a bit out at the Trout Pond and North Shore of Lake Camanche, fishing with dry flies on a creek can be a lot more...

Eating real, organic whole food on a daily basis will help to lessen the burden on the liver. Meaning that the liver has to work harder to breakdown and rid the body of any food additives — so your liver will love you for eating organic whole food that has not been sprayed with poisons or adulterated with preservatives and artificial additives — mainly toxins.

The following recipe receives my stamp of approval and I absolutely love the avocado and fresh fruit salsa on the salmon. I only recommend wild Alaskan (Pacific) salmon and...

The second annual "Free Yoga For Everyone" event will be held in Detert Park, Jackson, May 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Amador Ledger Dispatch photo by Mike Sweeney
Last year I wrote a column on yoga that touched on my somewhat humiliating experience at a strict yoga camp that banned everything from garlic to coffee. I lasted two nights and made a run for it early on the second morning before my caffeine withdrawal kicked in. (Contraband Starbucks got me through the first day). The folks that ran the camp knew their yoga, but they were not what I would call “inclusive.” Fortunately, here in Amador County we have a yoga event coming up that is designed for everyone, and best of all it is... The Men’s Basketball League continues to impress its spectators every week. It’s getting closer and closer to playoffs and these teams are starting to pick it up a little bit to get ready. There were a few new faces this week and some could make a big difference in the playoffs.

This season has eight teams in the league, four A League teams, and four B League teams. The teams only play each other if they are in the same league. Then all four teams from each league will make the playoffs were the action will really happen. These...

Ben Nuckolls caught this pic of a mountain lion in the Tiger Creek area in early March. Photo courtesy to the Amador Ledger Dispatch

Question: I live in Kern County and last December caught a mountain lion on our security camera. Then, last night about 6:45 p.m. I saw it walking on the road in front of my home with a cat in its mouth. This is a new experience for me and my research indicates that there is no reason for concern, except to notify neighbors with pets. Can you please give me some guidance on whether I should do anything with this information?

(Steve D.)

Answer: These security cameras that people and businesses are installing as well as trail...

Historically, April 1 is the peak snowpack. This year, the peak came earlier. There was little snow accumulation in March, and much of the...
