The 23rd Annual Arts of Bear Valley Summer Show will be held at he Perry Walther Building (Next to the Bear Valley Music Festival Tent). Come on up and enjoy the music and an art show with over 23 participating artists. The show starts Friday, July 25th and runs through Sunday, August 10th, 2014. The Show will be open on all Concert Days, 11 AM through intermission of the nightly Music Show. Entry to the show is free.
The Artwork is juried for quality and technique. This year our juror is well known Artist Barbara Conley. She will also select a "Best of Show" art piece.
A reception for the public will be hosted by AOBV on Saturday, July 26th, from 5PM to 6:30PM, before the Tommy Castro & The Painkillers Concert. Most artists will be in attendance to greet you and answer any questions about their artwork. Hors d'oeuvres will be served.
This years's raffle will be held on the last day of the Music Festival. This years four artist who donated are, Susan King, Charlotte (Mahood) Mulcaster,Sarah Evans and Lori Sturdivant. When you purchase a ticket all proceeds will go to the Miusic Festival, and you may be drawn to win one of the four original paintings. Tickets can be purchased from Arts of Bear Valley members at the sales desk in the Perry Walther Building.
The Group will again this year sponsor its "Art Adventures", mixed media painting program to be held at the Perry Walther building. This year's program is called "Crazy Bears". It is for elementary school age children and takes place on Thursday, August 7th. There will be 2 Sessions. One at 11 AM and one at 2 PM. The program is being led by Elaine (Staben) Cahill, with the help of several other AOBV members. Both classes are limited to 16 students. All art supplies are provided and no fee is charged. Pre-registration is available at the Exhibit sales desk.
Arts of Bear Valley is an Association of more than 30 area artist whose works have won numerous awards, hung in museums and collected by art lovers and published worldwide. The Organization has two shows per year, one in Bear Valley and the other at the Calaveras Big Trees State Park, in August.
AOBV funds grants to the Calaveras County Arts Council (it is an advanced education grant) and gives both grants and time to local schools for their art programs. The Organization also co-hosts the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee Professional Art Show. Members happily share their knowledge and time to provide the Art Adventures program in Bear Valley and helps with art education at Calaveras Big Trees State Park's Family Day.
