The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is looking for help to find a man who may have tried to abduct a young woman from in front of the Valley Springs Elementary School on Thursday, July 30.

According to a release from the CCSO, deputies responded to a report of “ a female student being coaxed to enter a suspicious vehicle."

The incident happened at about 4 p.m. after a female student rode the bus from Calaveras High School to Valley Springs Elementary. She was waiting for a parent to arrive, when she was approached by an unknown person driving a light blue Chevrolet pickup. The driver pulled along the female student who was standing near the gymnasium and asked her if she needed a ride. The female student refused and the driver accelerated away from her. The driver made no further attempts towards the female student. This incident was initially posted to a social website and later reported to the Sheriff’s Department. The Sheriff’s Department is aware of the incident and conducting follow-up.

The driver was described as white male adult about 30 years of age, medium build, and blond hair. He drove a light blue Chevrolet, extended cab, two wheel drive pick up truck. This case is still being investigated. If you have any information about the incident, you are urged to call the CCSO.
