Clark’s Corner, in Ione, held its first-ever Softball Tournament and Family Jubilee last Saturday, at Howard Park. Games began at 8 a.m. with four co-ed teams taking the field to play for the title — Crossfit Rugged Edge, Clark’s Corner, Jackson Rancheria and an unnamed team from Ione.

When the dust cleared, it was Crossfit Rugged Edge that pulled in at first place, after a head-to-head battle with Clark’s Corner in the final game.

Event Coordinator Chester Webb was pleased with the turnout and is already making plans already for another tournament next year. “I’m looking to make it bigger and better next year,” said Webb, “and I’m excited it was such a huge success. It exceeded my expectations.”

With positive feedback from participants and onlookers, Webb is confident that putting together another event will draw even more participants and support. A portion of the proceeds of the event will be given to the Interfaith Food Bank.
