Howard Rees Art Workshops

“Focus On:” These two-day intensive art classes will focus on various painting challenges, including strong values, brushwork, edges, color relationships, composition, design and capturing light. The Focus on Value Workshop runs July 7 and 8. Focus on Color Workshop is Aug. 25 and 26. Holmes’ Hounds

The next meeting of Amador’s Sherlockian Society is Tuesday, July 1, at 6 p.m. Gather at 221B, where members will give a full explanation of their assumed identities. If you enjoy a passionate pursuit of the world’s greatest detective, like to play games and play dress-up, if you enjoy a spirited exchange with imaginative people, you will enjoy Holmes’ Hounds. Sons In Retirement

The next meeting of SIRs Branch 96 will be held on July 3, with a planned program of choral music by local singers. SIRs has monthly meetings for active, retired men on the first Thursday of the month. The group has no dues and only exists to encourage and support activities for the members. Meeting at the St. Sava Conference Center, SIRs members enjoy a very nice lunch and a program of interest by local community members. Consulting Rosarian School

The Mother Lode Rose Society is hosting a Northern California Nevada Hawaii Consulting Rosarian School, at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road, Jackson, on July 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Consulting Rosarians are representative members of the American Rose Society, and are obligated to educate the public about roses, and foster and promote the growing and the love the roses. Consulting Rosarians are required to continue their education, staying abrest of current trends in the rose growing industry. By attending this school, they will receive four points of continuing education. One-point seminars are also available on the local level if approved by the NCNH District Consulting Rosarian Chairperson. Anyone interested in learning more about the care of roses, chemicals, fertilizers, nutrition, types of insects — bad or beneficial — and much more may audit the all-day class. There will be a welcome breakfast for attendees.A potluck luncheon  is planned, with plates, cutlery and refreshments provided. To audit the class, there is a $10 fee. E-Waste Clean-Up

Take part in the E-Waste Clean-Up event on Saturday, June 28, at River Pines Town Hall, 22900 Canyon Avenue, River Pines between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Acceptable items include any size TV,  computer monitors, LCDs and flat screens, PCs and CPUs, printers, cell phones, PDAs, telephones, modems, laptops, servers, DVD and VCR players, stereos, boom boxes, game consoles, cables, wires, chargers, microwaves, ink and toner cartridges. 


Theater Audition

Auditions for Volcano Theatre Company’s “Camping with Henry & Tom,” happen on Sunday, June 29, at 2 p.m., and Monday, June 30, at 7 p.m. Four men of various ages are needed. Auditions are held at the Cobblestone Theatre, located at 16142 Main Street, in Volcano. Scripts are available at the Ledger Dispatch, 10776 Argonaut Lane, Jackson.
