Now through July 12

‘Visit to a Small Planet:’ This is the last weekend to see Volcano Theatre Company’s first summer offering, “Visit to a Small Planet,” by Gore Vidal. Show times are Friday and Saturday nights, at 8 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., for picnickers. Bring a lawn chair, a sweater and bug spray, and plan on having a belly full of laughs. July 4

Murphys First Saturdays: The Stardust Cowboys provide country western dance music and cowboy swing, at Murphys Community Club’s First Friday of the Month event on July 4, at 5:30 p.m., in the cool confines of Murphys Community Park. Come early for a special dinner, catered by Lila & Sage, available for $10, with Newdsome-Harlow wine and other beverages on sale. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a free, small-town American happening. Murphys Community Park is located on Algiers Street, in historic downtown Murphys. For details, call 728-8183.

Dancing In The Street: Amador City presents Dancing in the Street, featuring music, dancing and an all-around good time from 6 to 9 p.m. Visit interesting shops, enjoy food by Buffalo Chips, Andre’s Bakery and the Imperial Hotel, and find out what that old beer booth is all about. On Saturday, July 5, rock, swing and boogie with the band Crystal Image. There’s nobody to call, and no reservations to make. Don your dancing shoes and drop in for an evening of Dancing in the Street.

 

July 5

Cannonball Run Car & Craft Show: On Saturday, July 5, come for Amador County’s Cannonball Run Car & Craft Show, free to the public, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Come for a scrumptious breakfast between 7 and 9 a.m., watch the Independence Day Parade at 10 a.m., and hear live music from the ‘50s and ‘60s. The Art & Craft Show runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with great raffle prize give-aways scattered throughout the day. It’s All Good: AmadorArts presents the TGIF Summer Concert Series, featuring It’s All Good, playing good old rock ‘n roll, at Detert Park, in Jackson, on July 11, from 6 p.m. until dusk. Concerts are free. Pack a picnic dinner, lawn chairs and a light sweater, and plan to socialize, relax to the music and maybe even get up and dance. Gypsy Jazz: On Saturday, July 12, from 12:30 to 3 p.m., spend the afternoon with Young’s Vineyard. Bring a picnic, visit the tasting room and pick up your favorite bottle of Young’s wine while enjoying the music of Giorgi Khokhobashvili, playing everything from gypsy jazz to modern classics. Cheeseburgers ‘n’  Zin: On Saturday, July 12, Amador Cellars will be grilling up cheeseburgers to perfectly pair with its full-bodied Zins. Dance in the barn to your favorites, played by The New Originals. Food will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and the tasting room will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Reservations required.
