Excel Physical Therapy has moved to 711 S. Highway 49, in Jackson, across the street from the Holiday Inn Express. Excel completely renovated the building to provide full-service, state-of-the-art physical therapy to adults and children. Designed with the client in mind the new facility is modern, with a beautifully open gym, offering a machine for every rehabilitation concern.

The 20’ x 40’ indoor lap pool is heated year-round, ranging from 3.5’ to 5’ deep, and the therapeutic hot tub is used for stretching and light exercises. Both pools offer a lift chair in and out for those in need. Aqua Therapy supports the entire healing process by allowing the body 90 percent buoyancy while providing resistance to gently build muscle strength. This low-impact therapy allows for greater flexibility and range of motion, while reducing the chance of injury or strains that may occur during a standard machine session or other land-based physical activity. There are many benefits when working in water, including increased respiration rate, metabolism and the blood supply to muscles and the heart. Aqua Therapy reduces blood pressure while reducing stress on the muscles and joints. Studies are finding that those suffering from Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, problems with balance and coordination, and those who have had total joint replacement are highly benefited by the use of Aqua Therapy.

Excel’s mission is “to restore function, improve fitness and assure our patients’ well-being and independence.” Upon your first visit, you will meet with Dee Dee Slayter, a licensed Physical Therapist, to go over your needs, perform an evaluation and design your specific treatment regime. This may include manual techniques, soft tissue massage, stretching, therapeutic or aquatic exercises. She may recommend hot and cold applications or the use of ultrasound, electrotherapy or iontophoresis.

Offering education about the healing process and your injury is of foremost importance. Excel Physical Therapy provides comprehensive management and injury prevention information. Excel has been taking care of Amador and surrounding area residents for more than 23 years, and is known for individual, one-on-one care. Current programs include post-surgery rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary conditioning, TMJ, posture assessment, and neurological, orthopedic or sport injuries. With new laws, Medicare and Blue Shield patients no longer have to wait for their physical therapy. If you are in need, schedule an evaluation and Excel can send a “plan of care” directly to be approved. For more information, visit Excel’s website, at, or give the office a call, at 223-5669.
