Amador County’s first-ever Adult Flag Football League came to an end last Sunday. There were four teams in this eight-week league, run by the Amador County Recreation Agency. The format for the league is 6-on-6, passing only, non-contact. It has the same set-up as other successful Adult Flag Football Leagues in California. Adults very rarely get a football game together, especially in this smaller county. So a league like this is perfect for adults to be able to play an organized sport and have lots of fun while doing it. Each team played six regular season games, then all four teams made it to the single-elimination playoffs. So every team had a chance to win the championship.

The team everyone was trying to beat all year was Davenport Properties. They had a roster full of young, athletic players who were so much faster, as a whole, than any other team. It really made it tough for teams to beat them. No Punt Intended finished in 2nd place during the regular season and played the 3rd place Code 3 Ballers in the first round of playoffs. Code 3 Ballers came away with the upset to advance to the championship game. The ACRA team had to play Davenport Properties in the first round of playoffs and ACRA kept it close the whole game. ACRA could not pull it off at the end and Davenport Properties won by 13 points, which was their smallest victory all season.

No Punt Intended took down the ACRA team in the second round of playoffs and won 3rd place in the League. The championship game was between Code 3 Ballers and Davenport Properties. Davenport started the game on fire and never looked back. They had a 30-point lead at halftime and that lead stayed pretty much the same for the rest of the game. The final score was Davenport Properties, 59, Code 3 Ballers, 33. The victorious players came over and grabbed their championship shirts and said they will be back for next season.

The next Adult Flag Football League will start on Saturday, September 20. The game times will be either in the morning or around noon. ACRA will have a league meeting on Wednesday, September 24, at 6 p.m. at the ACRA office to decide on the game times and more. If you would like to play in the league, or put a team together, call ACRA, at 223-6349.
