Fred graduated from Jackson High School in 1942. In 1943, he was drafted into the United States Army, was trained as a medic, and spent his last tour on the islands of Saipan and Tinian in the South Pacific. Fred married Norma Ball on June 8, 1947. They were married for 67 years. Sixty of those years were spent in their cozy little house on Peak Hill, in Jackson. Their only child, Jennifer, was born there. She was the “love of his life.” She had a son, Steven, who was also very special to him.

Fred enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and sports, and was a charter member of Argonaut Breakfast Lions Club. Prior to that, he was also a member of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce, President of PTA, and very active with the Band Boosters Club. He loved Silver Lake, the family cabin, and the chapel, which he helped build and maintain for 40 years.

He was employed by PG&E as a meter reader for 37 years. Immediately after retirement, he became one of the first drivers of cancer patients to Sacramento for treatment. Fred was a dedicated driver for 20 years and also was a volunteer for the “Gourmet Box Lunch” fund raiser for the Cancer Society.

He is survived by his wife, Norma, daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Dave Geraurd, and grandson, Steven Geraurd and his wife, Whitney. His parents and brother, Jack Cuneo, preceded him in death.

A funeral service was held Monday, August 11, 2014 at Daneri Mortuary Chapel in Jackson; Interment was at Sunset View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to “Stars,” P.O.
