Every other Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Amador County residents can drop off hazardous waste at no charge at the Buena Vista Transfer Station, near Ione. The next collection date is tomorrow, Saturday, August 9. Explosives, ammunition, pharmaceuticals and radioactive waste are not accepted. The limit per trip for hazardous waste is 15 gallons or 125 pounds.

Waste products accepted under this program include: antifreeze & gasoline; brake fluids; used oil & oil filters; pool chemicals; home-use sharps (injection needles); paints & thinners; household batteries; pesticides & insecticides; mercury products (thermostats and switches); fluorescent tubes and bulbs; computers & televisions; car or truck batteries; cell phones; non-empty aerosol cans; electronic devices; and household cleaners.
