Lucy “Joann” Oneta Easterling of Ione, Calif., passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the age of 93. She was born the youngest of eight children in Alva, Okla., on May 23, 1921 to the late Lucy and Issac Whisman. Joann married Charles Easterling in 1937. Charles and Joann made Amador County their home in 1948 when they purchased Twin Peaks Ranch. In 1954, Charlie and Joann built an airport on the ranch and it is still the only private, state and federally approved airport in Amador County, Camanche Sky Park. She loved traveling in her travel trailer to Silverlake, Plasse's Resort and Bodega Bay. Lucy also had a passion for art, and as an amateur painter, she won a blue ribbon in the Amador County Fair.

Joann is survived by her son, Charles Easterling, of Lodi, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband of 75 years, Charles Easterling, and her daughters, Paticia Munn and Shirlee Boitano. At her request, there will be no services.
