UPDATE 1:05 P.M.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the alleged stabbing death of an Upcountry man.

A spokesperson for the Amador County Sheriff's Office said Greg Michael Wilson, 40. has been booked on a first-degree murder charge and Dana June Knaul, 48, described as his girlfriend, has been booked on charges of being an accessory after the fact.

At least four individuals have been interviewed in connection with the death that was first reported in the early morning hours on Monday. (See previous breaking news story.)

The victim has still not been identified.

THE EARLIER STORY IS BELOW:

A 26-year-old man is dead this morning, the apparent victim of an overnight stabbing on Pioneer Creek Road in Pioneer, the Amador County Sheriff's Office said.

Details are still trickling in to the newsroom but a spokesperson for the ACSO said they received a call at 2:40 a.m. Monday from the 27-year-old girlfriend of the deceased about an altercation involving at least four men.

Responding officers found the victim in the driveway of the residence expired from "wounds consistent with penetration injuries," said the spokesperson.

Investigators are now in the process of locating "persons of interest." The name of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
