Now that your garden is in full swing, what are you going to do with all that produce? The Calaveras County Master Gardeners’ Demonstration Garden will be open on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with experts available to give you tips about preserving, pest control or any other garden-related concern you might have. The Demonstration Garden is located at the County Government Center, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, in San Andreas.

There will be no plant sale this month. This Saturday, we will discuss some methods of preserving fruits and vegetables, nutritional values and review food safety considerations while providing some interesting recipes.

Come find answers to your home gardening questions, including plant and pest problems. When the garden is not open, home gardening assistance is offered by Master Gardeners through the help line, at 754-2880. Proceeds from plant sales support the Master Gardener’s education programs and maintenance of the Demonstration Garden. For details, contact the UC Cooperative Extension office, at 754-6477, or visit cecalaveras.ucdavis.edu.
