On June 27, Mule Creek State Prison teamed up with the Ione Police Department and participated in The Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of the Special Olympics of Northern California.

More than 60 people participated in the run, walk or bike, which began and ended on prison grounds with a short stop in between at Clark’s Corner, in the city of Ione. Clark’s corner provided refreshments for the event and a generous monetary donation.

To continue in the fundraising activities for the event, the Mule Creek State Prison chapter of the Chicano Correctional Workers Association hosted a lunch consisting of carne asada, rice, beans and a drink.

The food was prepared by CCWA members and numerous staff purchased the lunch in support of the event.

When all was said and done, the institution, along with the support of the Ione Police Department, raised over $4,100 for the Special Olympics of Northern California.
