The Native Sons of the Golden West, Excelsior Parlor #31, in Jackson, held their annual Kids Fishing Derby at Lake Tabeaud on Saturday, June 14. The free event was open to kids 15 years and under, with lunch provided to all.

Winners in the five age groups received new fishing poles. The winners this year are: 4-and-under — Wyatt Hobbick; 5 to 7 — Lucas Reese; 8 to 10 — Alex Girton; 11 to 12 — Haley Hobbick; 13 to 15 — Hunter Hobbick.

The Native Sons of the Golden West are dedicated to preserving and promoting California History, with membership open to any California-born resident. Excelsior Parlor meets the first Thursday of the month, at 6 p.m., at the Native Sons Parlor, on the corner of Court and Summit streets, across from the old Courthouse, in Jackson.
