Two minors suffered major injuries after the all-terrain vehicle they were traveling in rolled over on its side on an Amador highway Saturday.

The 17-year-old driver, a Livermore resident, and a female passenger from Galt, also 17, were heading westbound on Woodridge Road on a 2007 Yamaha Rhino Aug. 30 at about 2:20 p.m. The driver later stated that he was "messing around and going a little fast," according to the California Highway Patrol incident report. While approaching Salt Springs Road, the driver steered sharp to the left, which caused the ATV to roll over on its side. The driver sustained major injuries to his neck and face and was flown to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. His passenger sustained trauma to her neck and right arm, and was flown to Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael. The driver and the passenger, both unnamed due to their minor statues, were not wearing helmets or seat belts during the time of the accident.

Since it was introduced in 2003, the Yamaha Rhino ATV has been associated with a number of rollovers and accidents where riders suffered debilitating fractures when their arms and legs were trapped under the weight of the vehicle, according to US Recall News.

At 2:25 p.m. that same day, a Sutter Creek man suffered minor injuries after he failed to negotiate a left curve in the road while traveling westbound on Shake Ridge Road at about 30 mph in a 2002 Honda. After missing the curve, Barry Hoff, 50, ran off the road and crashed through a country road advisory sign. Hoff was treated at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson for his injuries.

That night, a motorcyclist from Sacramento was thrown from his Suzuki after he lost control of the vehicle while traveling southbound on Latrobe Road. Jerry Branum, 20, was traveling at about 35 mph when he lost control of his motorcycle, which then continued onto the shoulder where it toppled over and threw Branum onto the ground. Branum was wearing safety gear at the time of the accident and suffered moderate injuries. He was treated at Mercy Hospital of Folsom.

Sunday morning, four people - three minors and an 18-year-old - were traveling southbound on a dirt trail on Hogan Dam Reservoir in San Andreas when the 1998 Chevrolet they were in rolled over onto its roof after the driver made a left turn. Two passengers, Robbi Wright, 18, and a 16-year-old male, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital in San Andreas and to Doctors Medical Center of Modesto, respectively. The driver, also a 16-year-old male, was not injured. All parties are Stockton residents.

Two Pioneer residents traveling on Buckhorn Ridge Road Tuesday morning collided when Anthony Wilson, driving a 2003 Dodge, failed to see a northbound driver and violated her right of way. Anthony Wilson, 25, who was traveling westbound, had stopped to make a left turn onto another road when he failed to notice the other driver, a 62-year-old woman. No one was injured in the incident, but the CHP report listed property damage.

A Pioneer man, 34-year-old David Martin-Camicello, suffered minor injuries Tuesday, after he jumped from his motorcycle, which was headed toward a steel fence on Camanche Road south of Reservation. Martin-Camicello was driving southbound on Camanche Road at about 35 mph when, he claimed, two deer jumped in front of him. He steered his vehicle, a 1999 Harley Davidson, to the left side of the road and was unable to maintain control of the vehicle. It was then he saw the steel fence post approaching and decided to jump from the bike. The vehicle continued into the steel fence post and came to a rest. Martin-Camicello landed on the ground next to the vehicle and sustained minor injuries. He sought his own medical aid.
