A fire broke out along Highway 16 on Oct. 3 at 11:30 a.m. The blaze was sparked 2 miles west of Latrobe Road and was soon burning hot on the dry grass, thick underbrush and stacks of cut, rotting trees that were piled up in the area. CAL FIRE, Sacramento Metro Fire Department and local firefighters from Plymouth and Sutter Creek all responded. After calling on the aid of helicopters, water trucks and bulldozers, the fire was contained around 12:50 p.m. Only sections of wildland were affected by it. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation by CAL FIRE.
