The Amador County Transportation Commission is kicking off its 2010 Regional Transportation Plan update.
It is ACTC's primary responsibility to implement and regularly update the RTP in order to plan, prioritize, and fund transportation improvements of regional significance. As a part of this effort, ACTC staff will be forming a working group of interested citizens and stakeholder representatives to actively participate in recommending policies and priorities for the commission to consider as the 2010 RTP update is developed and moves forward for adoption.
ACTC is hosting a series of community meetings throughout the county to offer concerned citizens a meaningful opportunity to participate in this stakeholders' round table. The four public meetings will be held Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. at Plymouth City Hall; Thursday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. at the Jackson Civic Center; Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. at Pine Grove Town Hall; and Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. at Ione City Hall.
ACTC staff will explain the commission's roles and responsibilities, discuss the purpose of the RTP, and present a planning process that will forecast future traffic demands based on anticipated growth throughout the region in order to plan infrastructure needed to avoid congestion and preserve Amador's rural quality of life.
