Larry was the eldest of four children born to Ernest Edward and Dorothy Helen (Metcalf) Birge, on September 11, 1942 in Berkeley, CA. He graduated from Amador High School in 1960, where he enjoyed playing football. Larry began fighting fires for CDF in that summer, and washing dishes for CDF academy thru the winter. John W. Wells

John passed at home with family on Veterans Day. He is survived by 3 sons and many grand and great grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his wife Olive and 3 children.

John served with the 5th Marine Division on Iwo Jima in WWII. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the VFW. He enjoyed helping with the Calaveras Logging Museum in White Pines.

There will be a celebration of his life at the Legion Hall in Glenco, January 10, 2015 at 2:30 p.m.

Karl Kirkland passed away on November 12th in Canyon Lake CA, at the age of 53, with several family members by his side.

Karl was born in Long Beach CA and lived there until his family moved to the Shenandoah Valley in 1973. He loved the area and attended Amador High School where he played basketball and ran on the cross country track team. Karl had many dear friends, some he knew from childhood.
