Katherine (June) Palmer, age 83, passed away peacefully in Rancho Cordova, Calif., on July 17, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. June was born in Jenks, Okla., on June 2, 1931, a daughter of the late Jessie Mabel (Potter) and William Calvin Fowler.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, July 25, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at Amador Hills Funeral Home, in Pioneer, Calif.

Bert E. Craw of Volcano, California, passed away July 17, 2014 in Jackson, Calif., at the age of 98. Bert was born on August 16, 1915 in Antigo, Wis.

Bert’s service in World War II led him to land on Omaha Beach on D-Day, serve in Patton’s 3rd Army, and even fight in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he moved his family to California, working in the logging industry until he retired in 1980. After retirement, Bert enjoyed traveling, fishing and summers at Silver Lake.

Lucy “Joann” Oneta Easterling of Ione, Calif., passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the age of 93. She was born the youngest of eight children in Alva, Okla., on May 23, 1921 to the late Lucy and Issac Whisman. Joann married Charles Easterling in 1937. Charles and Joann made Amador County their home in 1948 when they purchased Twin Peaks Ranch.
