The 2014 Plymouth Farmers Market starts Thursday, Aug. 7, from 4 to 7 p.m., at McGee Park, on Main Street, in Plymouth. It will take place every Thursday until Sept. 29. This community market is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Plymouth-Foothills. Featuring fresh produce from

local vendors, great wine, food and live music, all in a grassy, shaded park, the Plymouth Farmers Market has become a popular gathering place for folks from all over Amador and El Dorado counties. Visitors can dine “al fresco,” with background music from local favorites like Herb Boxhorn, Hal Gamble and Jack McGee. The increasingly popular “Dinner in the Park” provides affordable, small-plate dinners from a different restaurant each week, including Taste, InCahoots and others.

An event in Plymouth — Gateway to the Shenandoah Valley — wouldn’t be complete without wine tasting. To complement your meal, each week a different Amador County winery will offer tasting and/or wine-by-the-glass selections. We’re happy to welcome newcomers Helwig Wines and Turley Wine Cellars this year. They will join repeat wineries like Deaver, Andis and Vino Noceto.

Austin Ford, Market Manager, commented, “Produce vendors like Abbondanza and Randall’s Corner will be joined by other regulars, including Hess Family Jams and Jellies and Susan Bragstad’s Amador Olive Oil. And we’re delighted to have new vendors selling shaved ice, lavender, red wine vinegar and more.”

If you’d like to sell your products at the Plymouth Farmers Market, just show up, set up and sell.

Again this year, local nonprofit organizations are invited to present their information at the market at no charge.

There’s always a raffle, usually for artwork. The event is free for AmadorArts members, or $5 for non-members.
