Stations of the Cross Lenten Schedule

The Catholic Churches of Amador County invite you to join us in prayer and fellowship during the Lenten Season. Each Friday, beginning March 5, reflect on the mystery of Jesus’ gift of himself to us by praying the Stations of the Cross. Most churches also have a free Soup Supper along with the Stations. Schedule: St. Bernard, in Volcano, 5 p.m.; St. Mary of the Mountains, in Plymouth, 5:30 p.m., with Soup Supper following; Our Lady of the Pines, in Buckhorn, 5:30 p.m., with Soup Supper following (except March 14 and 28); St. Katharine Drexel, in Martell, 6 p.m., Soup Supper happens first, followed by Stations; and Sacred Heart, in Ione, at 7 p.m., with Mass following.

The Healing Word

The Healing Word is hosting a Marriage Seminar on April 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., and April 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a soup and salad lunch. There is no admission fee, and the event is open to all. There will be a Men’s Breakfast on Saturday, March 15, from 9 to 11 a.m., and a Women’s Breakfast on Saturday, March 22, from 9 to 11 a.m. Food and clothing are available for whosoever, every Thursday and Friday, between 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday service is at 10:30 a.m., with a lunch social after. Newcomers and visitors are welcome at our Bible Study groups: Mondays Men’s, at 7 p.m.; Wednesday Women’s, at 1 p.m.; and Family, Wednesday evenings, at 6 p.m. Pastor Mary Ann Barcklay’s office hours are Wednesday through Friday, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The church office can be reached at 295-8699, and healing@volcano.net. The Healing Word is a Foursquare Gospel Church, located at 26675 Tiger Creek Road, at Highway 88. We close on snow days due to ice in the parking lot.

Community Christian Kindergarten Reunion

Community Christian School is hosting a its 33rd Anniversary Celebration, on Friday, April 11, at 5:30 p.m. Special guests will include all 26 years of Mrs. Cartwright’s graduating Kindergarteners. Ione Community United Methodist Church

Our Annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner will be on Monday, March 17, from 5 to 7 p.m., serving traditional corned beef, cabbage and all the trimmings. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children under 10 years. Call the church office for more information. Sunday worship service is at 9 a.m., with either Pastor Tim Gravatt or Pastor Tom Widlund providing the message. “Captivated by Prayer” group meets on Monday evenings, at 6 p.m., for a video presentation and discussion. Adult Bible Study is held at 6 p.m., on Tuesdays. L.E.A.P. after- school program for 4th through 8th graders is on Wednesdays, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Senior Meals are served every Thursday, at 11:30 a.m. All of these programs are open to members of the community. The next EFAP food distribution will be held on Saturday, March 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pastors’ Office Hours are Mondays, from 9 a.m. until noon. The church is located at 150 W. Sutter Creek United Methodist Church

“Rebellion – The Depth of the Crisis,” will be the sermon topic on Sunday, March 16. Pastor Tim Gravatt or Pastor Tom Widlund will preside, with Scripture from Jeremiah 2:1-13. The service will begin at 11a.m., with coffee and fellowship in the Social Hall afterward. Join us Thursday nights at 5 p.m., at The Cellar, in the Hotel Sutter, for “Starting Point – Find Your Place in the Story.” Grab a glass of wine, some great food, and plan to spend some time in relaxed conversation as we explore what it means to connect our story with God’s story. Trinity Episcopal Church

Each Wednesday evening during Lent begins with a soup supper and bread, at 6 p.m. It is followed by a study program given by Pastor Karen, which ends at 8 p.m. While this is a series, each evening stands alone, so come to one or come to all. No reservation is needed, and there is no cost. Whoever you are, wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome here. Community PassovervDinner & Seder

The Mother Lode Jewish Community will be holding this year’s annual Passover Dinner and Seder in Murphys, on Saturday, April 19. Passover, which celebrates freedom from slavery in ancient Egypt, is one of the most important holidays in the Jewish religion. Everyone is welcome. The cost is only $20 per adult, $15 per child for MLJC members, and $25 per adult, $20 per child for non-members; there is no charge for children under 6. St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church

This is the 2nd Sunday of Great Lent in the Orthodox Church. Sunday, Divine Liturgy begins at 10 a.m., preceded on Saturday evening with Vespers, at 6 p.m. Every Wednesday during Great Lent, with the exception of March 19, the special Lenten service of the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts is offered at 6 p.m. The first inquirers’ class will be held tomorrow, Saturday, March 15, at 5 p.m., in the church. River Pines Bible Church

The Family Service begins at 10 a.m. This Sunday, Pastor David Kaufman’s message is, “Looking Into Jesus,” taken from the Book of Hebrews, Ch. 1 and 2. Music will be performed by Dennis Paddock and Elena Kaufman. Refreshments are served after the service. All are welcome. The church is located in River Pines, on Shenandoah Road and Emigrant Trail. Jackson UnitedMethodist Church

Jackson United Methodist Church continues its Bible series Sunday, March 16, with, “Rebellion - The Depth of the Crisis.” Services begin at 11 a.m., with Pastors Tim Gravatt or Tom Widlund presiding. Jackson United is located at 120 Church Street, between the old courthouse and Jackson Elementary School. Wednesday, Starting Point Bible Study is held in the Daffodil Room, at 3:33 p.m. Saturday, “Break Bread with Friends” is held in Celebration Hall, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The free program is open to anyone who is hungry.
