St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church

This Sunday marks the end of the first week of Great Lent in the Orthodox Church, the “Sunday of Orthodoxy.” At St. Sava, Vespers meet Saturday, at 6 p.m., and Liturgy meets Sunday, at 10 a.m. The Sunday of Orthodoxy Vespers, gathering all area Orthodox faithful together, will be held at the Elevation of the Holy Cross Orthodox Church, in Sacramento, at 6 p.m., on Sunday evening. An inquirers’ class will be offered on Saturday, March 15, at 5 p.m., before Vespers in the church. The Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts will be offered at 6 p.m., on Wednesday, March 12. Trinity Episcopal Church

The Lenten Program at Trinity this year is, “The Jesus Creed: The Essentials of Christianity and the Book of Common Prayer.” Each Wednesday evening during Lent, (March 12, 19, 26, April 2 and 9) from 6 to 8 p.m., the Lenten program will start with a soup supper, followed by the program. Whoever you are, wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome here. Jackson United Methodist Church

Jackson United Methodist Church continues its trip through the Bible Sunday, March 9, with, “Law - Rules to Live By.” Services begin at 11 a.m., and Pastors Tim Gravatt or Tom Widlund will preside. The church is located at 120 Church Street. Wednesday, the Daffodil Room will be the site of Bible Study on the Lenten Season, beginning at 3:33 p.m. Saturday, Celebration Hall is home to, “Break Bread with Friends.” The free program is open to anyone who is hungry. Ione Community United Methodist Church

Join us for Sunday worship services at 9 a.m., with Pastor Tom Widlund providing the message. Coffee and pastrries follow the service in the Social Hall. “Capitvated by Prayer” group continues the series on the Holy Spirit, on Monday evenings, at 6 p.m. Adult Bible Study meets every Tuesday, at 6 p.m. 4th through 8th graders are welcome to attend the L.E.A.P. after-school program on Wednesdays, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The next EFAP Food Distribution will be on Saturday, March 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Our Annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner will be on on Monday, March 17, with corned beef, cabbage and all the trimmings, served between 5 and 7 p.m. Contact any church member for tickets. The Healing Word

The Healing Word offers a Marriage Seminar, on April 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., and April 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a soup and salad lunch. There is no admission fee, and all are welcome to attend. Men’s Breakfast is scheduled for March 15, from 9 to 11 a.m. A Women’s Breakfast is scheduled for March 22, from 9 to 11 a.m. Food and clothing are available for whomever needs them, every Thursday and Friday, between 1 and 3 p.m. Pastor Mary Ann Barcklay leads Sunday service is at 10:30 a.m., with a lunch social afterward. Newcomers and visitors are welcome at our Bible Studies: Monday Men’s, at 7 p.m.; Wednesday afternoon Women’s, at 1 p.m.; Family Study on Wednesday evenings, at 6 p.m. We close on snow days due to ice in the parking lot. The Healing Word is a Foursquare Gospel Church, located at 26675 Tiger Creek Road, at Highway 88, in Pioneer. New Spirit Families

On Sunday, March 9, New Spirit Families presents, “Seeds Of Peace: Plant Seedlings & Ideas to Grow & Give,” from 3 to 6 p.m., in the Sutter Creek Community Building, located at 33 Church Street, in Sutter Creek, next to the park. Creative Spirit Families' monthly gathering for March focuses on planting seedlings with our hands and also our hearts and minds. This playful, hands-on time for planting peace and goodness uses art, music and planting seeds for self, family, friends and community. Stations of the Cross Lenten Schedule

The Catholic Churches of Amador County invite you to join us in prayer and fellowship during the Lenten Season. Each Friday, beginning March 5, reflect on the mystery of Jesus' gift of himself to us by praying the Stations of the Cross. Most churches also have a free Soup Supper along with the Stations. Schedule: St. Bernard, in Volcano, 5 p.m.; St. Mary of the Mountains, in Plymouth, 5:30 p.m., with Soup Supper following; Our Lady of the Pines, in Buckhorn, 5:30 p.m., with Soup Supper following (except March 14 and 28); St. Katharine Drexel, in Martell, at 6 p.m., Soup Supper happens first, followed by Stations; and Sacred Heart, in Ione, at 7 p.m., with Mass following.
