In order to provide a place of worship amidst the beauty of nature, Silver Lake Chapel was built and dedicated in 1973.

Located at the south end of Silver Lake, at Plasse’s Resort, on Highway 88, in Amador County, the interfaith, interdenominational chapel was built on land set aside by Maurice Plasse, whose grandfather homesteaded the area in the 1850s. It was through inspiration and donations of labor and love that the rustic chapel became a reality.

Special features are a large picture window facing Silver Lake and Thunder Mountain, a unique, hollowed-out tree pulpit and antique benches to accommodate approsimately 100 worshipers.

In the spirit of Christian friendliness, and with the “Come as you are” policy, vacationers and campers from many states and countries, and from varied walks of life have been, and always are, welcome at Silver Lake Chapel.

Sunday services begin July 6, at 10 a.m., with officiant Pastor Logan Carnell, of Grace Fellowship Church, in Jackson. Catholic Mass begins at noon. For additional chapel information, call Caralita Plasse, at 223-1540.
