Re-appearing on June 22, at 2 p.m., the Amador Senior Center, in Jackson, will be the Speakeazy Jazz Orchestra, a ten-piece dance band playing authentic arrangements from the 1920s and 1930s — The “Great Gatsby Era” —  using original dance-band instrumentation. The band will feature vocalists Chrissy Sleigh, Arlene White and Eric Johnson. New tunes added to the repertoire include, “Give Me Five Minutes More,” “To Each His Own,” “You’re Driving Me Crazy,” “Tea for Two” and “September in the Rain.”

The orchestra appeared last year at Ironstone Vineyard’s Concours d’ Elegance; it has been featured at the Dante Club, in Sacramento (an annual special invitation); and made a special appearance at the Berkeley City Club. The band appeared in May at Hovey Winery, in Murphys, for a special wine release event, and most recently performed for the City of Carmichael, to kick off the start of the city’s summer music series concerts. There is a $5 admission charge at the door. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Amador Senior Center. There will be cookies and coffee for your enjoyment.

The Senior Center has great parking and access. Look forward to a fun afternoon on Sunday, June 22, and set your calendars back to the 1920’s. Classic cars and authentic attire are always welcome.
