The big celebration is just one month away. Sierra Ridge Winery, in Sutter Creek, is hosting Operation Care’s Summer Solstice Celebration and fundraising event, on Saturday, June 21, from 6 to 10 p.m., offering delicious food, wine, drinks, raffle and silent auction items, and music by The Box Music Family (as seen on Good Day Sacramento).

The event is designed to raise money for Operation Care’s new Fresh Start program,  providing financial assistance to help survivors of domestic violence transition from the safe house into their own violence-free housing.

Operation Care, founded in 1980, is a nonprofit organization (501c-3) providing domestic violence and sexual assault support services, crisis intervention and education to this community.

The mission of Operation Care includes the belief in the value and dignity of individuals, and that people have a right to live in a safe, secure environment, free from violence. Operation Care provides individuals with the opportunities and tools to end the cycle of violence, including domestic violence support services and advocacy; rape counseling, support services and advocacy; Amador County safe house for battered women and children; safe harbor for battered men; classes; workshops; outreach prevention programs; and a 24-hour Crisis Line.

From February through April, the agency saw 45 domestic violence survivors, housed 11 women and three children, helped with eight restraining orders, counseled 37 domestic violence clients, and saw eight new sexual assault clients. We also  offer a variety of classes and workshops for survivors as well as community outreach prevention programs.

Tickets are a $75 donation, at the Operation Care office, at 223-2897, or operationcare.org.
