The tree-lined Volcano Ampitheatre is the perfect setting for Volcano Theatre Company’s second summer offering, “Robin Hood.” The legend of the infamous outlaw, his merry men and Sherwood Forest comes to life beginning Aug. 15.

Directors Joe Svec and Beth Barnard have infused Larry Blamire’s rollicking script with energy and humor. Blamire has synthesized the conflicting legends and ballads about the famous outlaw folk hero and created a hysterical, sprawling, action-packed romp.

VTC’s production includes a wise-cracking, superior swords person in Marian (Kristy Kendrick), and a Robin (Alex Sharp) who, only by chance, finds himself a hero. True to the legend the sleazy Sheriff of Nottingham (Brad Loffswald) finds his scheme to wed fair Ellen (Madison Peden) and to raise taxes for King John’s (Conor Broderick) coffers thwarted by Robin and his merry men, including Little John (Rob Ashton), Friar Tuck (Brad Barnard) and Will Scarlet (John Svec). This energetic adventure is filled with swashbuckling sword play and comic verbal fencing.

The Volcano Theatre Company is an award-winning community theater group in the midst of its 41st season, bringing quality entertainment to Mother Lode audiences.
