With August being National Immunization Awareness Month, and  with the cost of health care continuing to disappoint Americans, WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis of states with the best and worst health-related return on investment (ROI).

To examine the quality of American health care relative to its cost, WalletHub used data from 47 states to construct these statistics. The states that showed the best ROI were Hawaii, Kansas, Utah and Minnesota, with an average individual heath insurance premium of $2,292 in Minnesota. The worst were Nevada, Louisiana and Arkansas. California reportedly has the lowest death rate, adjusted by age group, while Mississippi has the highest. Blue states have a higher health ROI, with an average ranking of 20.35, compared with 27.42 for red states (1 = Best).
