Amador Girls Varsity Volleyball made a fine showing last Saturday in the Carmichael Invitational Volleyball Tournament. Seeded fourth in their pool, the Lady Buffs started with determined play, climbing to a second place pool finish to advance to the championship single elimination bracket in the afternoon.

Overmatched with Mercy High School from Burlingame, the Lady Buffs fell in two games, 10-25 and 12-25 in their first match of morning pool play. Recovering well, the girls from Amador were triumphant over Eureka High School in the second pool match, winning a three game nail biter, 25-21, 16-25, 15-12. Then, the Lady Buffs handed Lower Lake High School a 25-12, 25-22 defeat to clinch second place in the pool. Drawing Granite Bay High school to open the championship bracket in the afternoon, the Lady Buffs succumbed to the long day with a loss of 9-25, 12-25.

It was a show of true team effort over the day. Among those contributing kills were Caila Reynolds, Kelsi Taylor, Alyssa Smith, Sam Cole and Kayleen Dobner. Aces came from Caila Reynolds, Angela Faryan, Alyssa Smith and Courtny Hahn. Kristen Macintosh, Katelyn Goehner, Courtney Hahn, Kelsey Root and Bailey Weiss all contributed in back row play. Setters Brenna Scholtes and Brittny Hahn assisted the offensive attack while Caila Reynolds, Miranda Ornouski and Kelsi Taylor set the Lady Buff block.
